Glutathione is an antioxidant that is produced in the cells naturally and is largely comprised of three amino acids. These include; glutamin, glycine and cysteine.

The levels of glutathione in the body may be reduced due to a host of factors including; aging, poor nutrition, stress and environmental factors. When the level of the antioxidant reduces in the body, remedial action may be instituted as a corrective measure.  It can be added in the body intravenously, topically or through inhalation. It may also be administered orally in the form of capsules or liquid.

Here are some 10 benefits of glutathione for your skin, hair and health:

Parkinson’s disease is a condition that currently doesn’t have any cure but can be managed through proper treatment. When glutathione is administered intravenously, it has shown to greatly improve symptoms.

May assist in management of autoimmune diseases

Chronic inflammation resulting from autoimmune diseases can cause oxidative stress. Some of these diseases may include rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease and lupus. Now, glutathione reduces oxidative stress in this case by reducing immunological response in the body.

Lessens the effects of uncontrolled diabetes

Diabetes that is uncontrolled may cause oxidative stress as well as damage to tissues in the organs such as eyes, kidneys, nerves, etc. People with diabetes may have low levels of glutathione which may require boosting.
